Nearly twenty years ago, Dawn Casale united a background in high-end design, a love of gift-giving, and a passion for baking in her West Village apartment. With a delightful vintage aesthetic and focus on simple, honest ingredients, One Girl Cookies was born. Today, Dawn and head-baker-slash-husband David Crofton have expanded her vision from a tiny one-bedroom business into an empire. With three locations throughout Brooklyn One Girl Cookies is on a mission to brighten people’s days one whoopie pie and cupcake at a time.
At Deity Events we love seeing the smiling faces on all the guests when we serve One Girl Cookies. You can’t just take one bite of these delicious cookies. They are so good that we had to put them on our preferred vendor. Deity Events loves any detail that can help make your event unique. Our event-coordinator will help display the lovely desserts that you ordered!
What are your most popular items?
We are really well known for our super cute and delicious tea cookies and our whoopie pies have quite the following as well. Both make great favors! On the events side, our wedding cakes and dessert tables are really popular.
What is your favorite mix and match combination ?
My favorite cake combination is our chocolate cake with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream. It makes everyone happy. You have a little bit of everything – vanilla, chocolate, fruit. But, the best part of a custom cake is that you get to choose! One of my favorite parts of the job is watching couples get excited about their wedding cake flavors.
What is one of your most unique creations?
A really fun and different item we just started making is our raspberry curd filling for wedding cakes. It’s fruity, creamy and light all at the same time and it’s been a hit since we started offering it. We developed it for the wedding shower of one of our long time bakers, so it’s really special for us personally. But, it’s also delicious. It’s a win- win.
What advice would you have for a couple who does not want a wedding cake?
A dessert table! It’s a great opportunity to give your guests a variety of things to choose from – cupcakes, cookies, brownies, you name it. We also include to-go bags, so guests can take a little something home at the end of the night.
As a Brooklyn based venue what is your favorite thing about Brooklyn?
We’ve been in the neighborhood for a long time and we get to follow people through the important events in their lives. We love it when a customer who comes in every day for coffee gets her wedding cake with us. Or, when we make a birthday cake for a child that comes in after school. We feel really connected to our customers and I think it shows in what we do.
